My Testimony

Life Above Reproach

Norfleet Stewart

This is my second go-around with this outstanding course.  First and foremost, I thank God for this opportunity to tell whoever reads my testimony what God has done for me through this course.

To start with, there were things in the bible that I missed the first time around.  I have learned so much about what a Christian is supposed to act like and believe in and why.  But more importantly, I have learned to not only hear the Word of God, but also be a messenger of His word.  The people that I’ve surrounded myself with, have become my family and I love them dearly.

So, to this reader, if there is one point that I want to convey to you, it is very simple.  The bible teaches us that we should love our brothers and sisters as we love ourselves.  To me, this has been my problem all through life.  I have been so busy trying to impress myself so that I could be accepted by others that I have not taken the time to love myself.  You see the bible tells us that we should love thy God with all thy heart, mind, and soul and to love thy neighbor as thyself.  You can find these passages all through the bible.

However, I don’t believe that you can love God or your neighbor if you don’t love yourself.  The word “yourself” carries a lot of weight because if you are not loving yourself then you are playing into the devil’s hands; and therefore, the devil is destroying you.  But if you take the time to love yourself, then that love will give you the willpower to love God and your neighbors as God intended us to do.  You see, Jesus had great love for himself that allowed him to have great compassion and love for us.

So, always remember that if you love yourself, then that self-love will reach others.  This will be pleasing to God because He gave His only begotten son to die for our sins so that if we will believe in Him, we will have everlasting life.
