TESTIMONY

I have to start my testimony by saying God is “good.”  He is the only true God.  He is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

Before I knew God, I lived a life of destruction.  I was walking in complete darkness.  Every job and every relationship I ever had would either come to an end or be riddled with negativity.

Eventually, I got to the point where God could not use me.  Yet, instead of letting me die in my sin, God allowed me to suffer the consequences of my actions.  I ended up committing a robbery and getting an 18-year sentence.

God brought me to prison because He knew it was what it would take to get my attention.  He knew I needed a place where I could slow down and learn to depend on Him.

Look how God works.  When I became a believer, I was in perfect health and my family was doing well.  However, I had not matured enough to lean completely on Him.  I would still worry about things that I had no control over and being anxious for things I wanted that I did not need.

That was over 9 years ago.  Now I have gotten to the point in my life where I understand God is in total control and He wants only what is best for me.

This is why today, with my mom on dialysis with complete kidney failure and my dad in the hospital from alcoholism, I can write to you and say God is good.  With sadness over my family, I have no worry and no doubt that everything is as it should be.

God uses our experiences to teach us and bring us into a deeper understanding and relationship with Him.  The knowledge of Christ and the war against the flesh is what I am concerned with.  We have already won the battle because Jesus has already won the victory on our behalf.  All we have to do from this day forward is to trust in Him.
