Freedom

I was looking for who I was, who I was supposed to be, and how I was supposed to act.  I wanted to fit in and to be accepted.  I was so scared to share my thoughts and myself with others.  This is how I went through life day after day, year after year.

The Word of God says the Lord came to set the captives free.  I was certainly held captive by the enemy, in his territory in darkness.  I was captive by my own mind, thoughts, and feelings of despair.  I loved with a continuous sense of guilt.  When Jesus found me as I opened His word, He opened my heart and took residence inside of me.  It wasn’t until I surrendered my life that I found it.  Jesus has been with me every step of the way.  He has shown me who I am in Him; how to live, love, and be happy.  He has forgiven all my sins and mistakes; and I have, too.  His precious blood has cleansed me.  He has shown me that it’s okay to stand out, to be different, open, honest, and loving.  Above all, I thank Him for He has set this captive free.
