My Testimony

Fredrick Gates

            I grew up in a home where my father was an alcoholic and very abusive to me and my siblings. At that time in his addiction phase, he didn’t know that alcohol and drugs alter your thinking and ruins your teeth, liver, and kidneys.  When I got older, I saw myself follow in his footsteps. I knew at that point that I needed help. 

            So, I turned to God for His help because my life also became unmanageable.  My pastor told me to pray and ask God to help me get through all my struggles so the devil will not destroy my life.  I had to practice to trust God and to have faith in Him, and not in my drug addiction.  I didn’t want to be a loser. 

            You see, I’m a winner in God’s eye; and at that point, I knew I couldn’t let my Lord and Savior down.  So, I prayed to God. He lifted me up and gave me the strength I needed.  He brought me out of my addiction because I love myself, and God knew I didn’t want to die being caught up and trapped in addiction.  So, I got the help I needed, and He saved my life.  Now I have a job waiting for me.
